Area & Wool Rug Cleaning

Near the water, most of what dulls an area rug is salt and beach sand sitting deep in the pile. That comes out dry first, then in the wash.

Silk & Delicate Rug Cleaning

Questions we get asked
How do I have my rugs cleaned and returned around a seasonal schedule?
Most people here have their rugs collected shortly before they leave for the season, or in the first week or two after they come back. Tell us your travel dates when you call and we will collect and return inside them. If a home is closed up, we can work with a building manager or a housekeeper to get in, and we will store nothing without telling you first.
Why are cold water and plant-based soap safer for wool, silk and natural dyes?
Heat is what makes wool shrink and what loosens natural dyes so they bleed into neighbouring colours. Strong detergents strip the lanolin that gives wool its resilience and sheen. Washing in cold water with plant-based soap avoids both, so the rug comes back the same size and the colours stay where the weaver put them.
What can and cannot be done about sun fade?
Cleaning removes the grey film of dust and salt that makes a faded rug look worse than it is, and the colour usually reads brighter afterwards. What cleaning cannot do is bring back dye the sun has broken down along a window edge. In that case the honest options are rotating the rug, adding window film, or having a weaver re-dye a small area. We will tell you which one applies before we take the rug.
How does free pickup and delivery work in a condo or doorman building?
We come to the door, roll and wrap the rug on site, and take it out ourselves. In doorman and service-elevator buildings we book the elevator with management, carry a certificate of insurance where the building asks for it, and work inside the hours the building allows. Delivery works the same way, and we lay the rug back down and put furniture back on it.
What affects the price?
Size in square feet is the main factor, then material and construction - silk and fine hand-knotted rugs take longer and more care than a wool area rug. Pet urine treatment, heavy odour, and repairs such as fringe or binding are quoted separately. Pickup and delivery are free in Palm Beach County, and you get the price before any work starts.
